Marco Fontana has been working as of counsel with Michele Rizzo Law Firm since the end of 2018. Marco is a lawyer and legal advisor registered with the Law Society of Milan and deals mainly with Administrative Law (including European law), Energy Law and Business Law. In particular, he provides legal assistance and advice in relation to these matters in favor of companies (private and public) and public administrations.

Before joining Michele Rizzo Law Firm, he collaborated with leading national and international law firms in the fields of administrative law, energy and construction, such as the international law firm Bettini Formigaro Pericu and the Milan office of the international legal practice Hogan Lovells.

Thanks to this experience, he has developed particular expertise in legal assistance relating to merger & acquisition operations in the energy and real estate sectors, as well as in consulting multi-utilities companies with public participation on issues related to corporate governance and regulatory compliance pertaining to the activities of these sectors.

During 2018 he also collaborated with Finlombarda SpA, a financial intermediary controlled by the Lombardy Region and active in the field of public financing to companies and organizations for economic development projects of regional interest, focusing in particular on public contracts and legislation regarding companies with public participation in the financial sector.

Marco graduated in law at the University of Milan in 2012 with first class honours, discussing a thesis in Administrative Law (supervisor Prof. Erminio Ferrari). In his university career he spent a semester of study and research dedicated in particular to European Union Law and Environmental Law at the Université Libre in Brussels, Belgium.

In 2016-2017 he received a scholarship from Éupolis Lombardia – Higher Institute for Research, Statistics and Education of the Lombardy Region – to work on a research project dedicated to the implementation of the public administration reform and the new code of public contracts.

Starting from 2019, Marco collaborates with Milan Polytechnic, Department of Architecture and Urban Studies, in the ambit of the Masters “Public Procurement and Contracts” (MAC) and “Data Protection Officer” (DPO).

Marco is author of several scientific articles on Public Law.

He speaks Italian, English and French.
